Student Eligibility:

  • GPA

    All students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Residency

    Be a resident of the District of Columbia and a perspective graduate of D.C. Public Schools

  • Community Involvement

    Have volunteered or participated in community service or extracurricular activities

  • College/Program

    Must have been accepted for admission to an accredited 4-year college/university with a D.C. or state certified teaching program

  • Commitment

    Commit to pursuing a career in teaching in D.C. Public Schools

To apply, student applicants must each submit:

  • A completed scholarship application form

  • Essay

    An essay of 500 words or more on “Why I want to teach in D.C. Public Schools”

  • Resume

    A resume and list of extracurricular activities

  • Recommendations

    Three letters of recommendation from a teacher, principal, or counselor

  • Official Transcript

    A copy of most recent official transcript

Depending on available funding, one or more graduates
will receive a $20,000 scholarship awarded at $5,000 per year and
renewable for up to four years based on academic performance.
